THEATER

 Theater refers to the building designed to hold plays or dramatic performances. Theater has changed throughout its history. The changes reflect the growth and change of drama and culture. All the arts are found in theater, such as singing, music, painting, dance and literature.

Ancient Grece is the birthplace of the theater. The theater in Epidaurus is called an amphitheater. Epidaurus is a small city in ancient Greece. it is located somewhere in the Saronic golf reputed to the birthplace of Asklepios, the healer and son of Apollo. The modern town is known as Epidauros. Epidaurus is known both for its huge theater and as the most celebrated healing center of the Classical world  The amphitheater is built in a hollowed-out area of a hillside in a semi-circular form. The audience sits on benches made of stone and wood. The center is made of round stones,and the area is called orchestra. The speakers in the Greek drama and the chorus stand in the orchestra. behind the orchestra is a raised platform called the stage. The back of the stage is another building that provides dressing room for the actors. the actors are men wearing masks which show the characters they are playing.
